Exciting news, one of the very popular cookbooks by Janet and Greta Podleski called Eat, Shrink and Be Merry, has been chosen best Cookbook of the Decade for the years 2000 to 2009. The book achieved this status based on Chapters/Indigo sales figures and the fact that it did so means that it outsold cookbooks by the likes of Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, Ina Garten, Martha Stewart, Giada De Laurentiis and so many other celebrity chefs. You can read my review of Eat, Shrink and Be Merry, by clicking right here.

Discovered this interesting little volume last week called Julia’s Kitchen Wisdom. Penned in 2000 as a joint effort between Julia Child and David Nussbaum, it is a practical guide to Julia Child’s ‘essential techniques and recipes from a lifetime of cooking’ nicely updated for today’s kitchen to include modern equipment and methods.

Recently I read a page devoted to making perfect scrambled eggs without a teflon pan. I tried this method by Tandemonimom and, guess what, it works perfectly. I was thrilled.
I’ve long had mixed feelings about my t-fal pans and Tandemonimom used a frying pan from Calphalon’s Comtemporary stainless set which she has been using successfully for more than two years and which Amazon has listed for more than 35 percent off. I digress.
My real purpose for this post is to celebrate the creation of perfect scrambled eggs. If you want to make them too, check out her page at How to Make Perfect Scrambled Eggs – WITHOUT a Nonstick Pan.

Recently, I was gifted with the page formerly called ‘Comfort Food Headquarters.’ I’ve tweeked the title a bit to include more words that people are searching for like ‘comfort food recipes’ and ‘comfort food cookbook.’ This page should prove useful to anyone seeking comfort food recipes because it is packed with some of the best recipe and food pages on Squidoo.

I’ve freshened up my A Julie And Julia Book Review and I would recommend it to foodies. I enjoyed it and now that I have seen the movie, I realize that they make a good pair. Both the movie and the book offered something different.

How exciting is it when you can combine two of your passions? Yesterday, I was able to write about two of my favorite topics on the same page. Those topics? Food and movies.
I created a page for those seeking wonderful food-themed movies…and I found a lot of movies to include. I started with my two of my favorites, Ratatouille and Chocolat, added Julie & Julia (which I have a personal goal of watching this weekend) and then I found 22 more interesting sounding food and/or cooking movies to add to the list.
Then I set the list up in such a way that you can visit and vote for your favorites. I’ll also consider adding any new food-themed movies that you recommend. Hopefully, in the end it will be one delicious food movie list!
Until next time,
Brenda

NOTE: I have chosen to illustrate that page and this one with this vibrant apron. Isn’t it simply too groovy? It wouldn’t work in my kitchen at all but it sure is smashing! It’s a French Bull apron and is available in six assorted but equally marvelous patterns!

Our Favorite Christmas Cookies & Christmas Cookie Gifts is my final cookies-themed page, at least for 2009. I didn’t quite finish as I had intended to also do our brownie bites cookie recipe…but they will just have to wait for another time. I did manage to finish many other cookie-themed pages including:
The Best-Ever Ginger Crinkles Molasses Cookie Recipe
The Best-Ever M&M Cookies Recipe
Rose’s Christmas Cookies
The Gingerbread Boy, A Review
Christmas Cookies: Bite Size Holiday Lessons, A Review
Can’t Catch Me, I’m Wearing My Gingerbread Apron
Lenox Gingerbread House
Waechtersbach Plate: You Are Special Today Family Tradition
The Best Cookies Bake Off Ever
Quite a collection, if I do say so myself. They’re not all Christmas pages so some of them should hopefully do well all year long. Only time will tell…meanwhile, “Cookies anyone?”
